There’s nothing worse than being ready to race and right before the race starts, you remember you forgot something important. If you’re like me, I get a one track mind and all I can think about is jumping on the bike and tearing it up (well, while trying to). I like to make a race day checklist so forgetting things doesn’t happen and it helps ease my mind and keep me focused. Hopefully the ideas here will benefit you when planning for your next race day and putting that first place trophy on your shelf and giving you bragging rights over your buddies!

- Tear offs- Scott brand
- GoPro- check out the Hero 7 black
- Knee pads
- Chest protector
- Elbow pads
- Or Body Armour
I think we all can agree, gear is essential (and mandatory at a race) and not something we want to forget.
These are good to have in the truck.
Day-Pack Checklist (Desert Racing)
When on the desert, its a good idea to have the essentials if something happens to your bike while racing. Simple things may be able to at least get you back to the pits. If you don’t have a camelback or some type of hydration pack, I highly suggest getting one. Remember to keep things light and comfortable.
Bike and Pit Row Checklist
- Fire extinguisher
- Fuel mat (if required)
- Extra gas
- Bike stand
- Extra tires and tubes – if available
- Extra goggles and gloves
- Shade tent and chairs
Don’t forget your bike! Ha ha… The most important thing to pack up! If you need tips on how to get your bike ready for race day click here.
- Extra socks and change of clothes
- Back pack
- Money (Cash)
- Toilet paper
- Jump starter
- Wet wipes
- Good friends and family! If they can’t make it, the racing community is awesome and just like family!
Personal items may differ from person to person, but generally these are items I like to have on race day. Once your list is complete, load up and head out! Don’t forget to drive and ride safe!
Hopefully these lists help ease some of the anxiety that can arise when prepping for race day or even just a riding trip to your favorite adventure spot. More importantly, hopefully this helps to create peace of mind so you can relax and actually have fun while out riding!
Let me know what is on your checklist. I may need to add it to mine! Hope to see you at the next race!
